With Providence’s fall weather pushing chimney sweep demand, not all ‘licensed & insured’ crews are equal. Flue Foundry Chimney LLC holds active Rhode Island licensing, full liability coverage, and a track record serving neighborhoods from East Providence to Warwick. Here’s what to check before hiring, and why our team goes beyond the basics for your home’s safety.
What does ‘licensed’ actually cover for chimney work in Olneyville?
A Rhode Island chimney sweep license isn’t just a formality, it means the crew meets state safety codes for equipment, training, and fire hazard protocols. Flue Foundry Chimney LLC’s team is certified through the Chimney Safety Institute of America, with annual recertification to handle Providence’s older masonry chimneys (common in historic neighborhoods like North Providence). Ask for proof: a license number and a copy of their insurance certificate. Many ‘licensed’ crews in Providence subcontract work to unlicensed labor, we don’t. Our team also carries full liability insurance, so if a sweep reveals hidden damage (like cracked flue tiles), repairs are covered under our policy. Why Insurance Matters Before Winter Rush
Providence’s damp fall weather accelerates creosote buildup, turning routine sweeps into emergency calls if crews cut corners. Flue Foundry Chimney LLC’s insurance isn’t just a checkbox: it protects you if a sweep uncovers structural issues (like water damage from leaky crowns). For example, last month in Pawtucket, a homeowner’s DIY sweep missed a cracked liner, our inspection caught it before a chimney fire. We also offer free video inspections to document conditions, so your claim (if needed) has proof. Avoid crews who ‘don’t carry insurance’ or ‘handle claims separately’, that’s a red flag. For neighborhoods like Smithfield with older homes, our insurance covers up to $5,000 in unexpected repairs tied to our service. Schedule before October to beat the rush: contact us for availability.
